Summary: When Lucius Malfoy and Severus Snape return to Britain ten years after the war, after waiting for the public fervor to die down, they found out that the young witch that they grew to like has become reclusive and broken. This leads them to try and win her over and help her regain her confidence after they discover that it was her two best friends who caused her to be in this state. When Ginny Potter and her four children get thrown into the mix of people hurt by Harry and Ron, the Order finds themselves trying to track down the cause of their hatred; a dark curse from the Lestrange Vault. All the while, the threesome has to realize that being a family doesn’t necessary mean just two people.
Opinion: This fanfiction started off well, with detailed information about the characters and why the situation seemed so bleak when the two wizards arrived. However, as the story progressed, there were a lot of explanations that seemed to be skipped or basic relationship building needs that were skipped. The fact that Hermione was broken, yet sexually deviant seemed to be a huge contradiction. The relationship between Snape/Hermione and Lucius/Ginny were too quick and lacked basic emotions. The best relationship build was between Hermione/Lucius in the end. The writing was a little stilted and it often was difficult to determine exactly where the characters were or how they were feeling. Ginny’s deception was not very obvious either and threw me out of the story as it didn’t seem to fit properly.

Summary: Several years after the war ended, Snape is attempting to petition for his right to have his heirs carry the Prince name instead of the Snape. To do so, however, he has to go through a process called The Petitioner’s Courtship that has very specific rules on the path to finding a spouse (gender not an issue). After he invites both Draco and Harry to the first round, mostly just to fill seats, Snape must woo each member of the courtship, with the hope that someone chooses him in the end. Much to his surprise, both Draco and Harry grow to love the man that Severus is and each other, leading them to stay until the very end. Only Snape must overcome his insecurities and Harry his goal of remaining pure.
Opinion: This fanfiction was surprisingly well laid out. While the sexual aspects of the story were not detailed, they were also not as important as the relationship building throughout the story. The pattern that the courtship had to progress through allowed for lots of different interactions between Severus and his courters. By the end you knew how each character felt about each other and why. The courtship itself seemed rather archaic, but in the end, it worked out well for all the characters involved. Harry’s career as a curse breaker made his life much more interesting and allowed for good conversation as well.

Summary: After Severus founds out that Harry is homosexual in a very dangerous situation, he takes it upon himself to teach Harry about the complex community of homosexual wizards. As those with these “predilections” are not highly looked upon, they have created codes to show preferences in partners to make sure that only they understand what is going on. As Harry is still in school, he enlists the Weasley twins to introduce Harry to the physical aspects of a homosexual relationship, during which they find out that Harry is dangerously submissive. As they try to train him to keep control, while discovering what he enjoys, Harry knows that he plans on wooing Snape in the end with the idea of permanence going forward.
Opinion: The relationship building in this rather smutty fanfiction was very well handled and grew at a pace that made sense. The coding system made sense and the innuendos throughout the entire story were very clever and funny for both the reader and the characters. The sex scenes, while numerous, never got boring or repetitive. The backlash from Dumbledore was very unexpected and added another level that I didn’t expect. The defeat of Voldemort was very anti-climactic at the end; this being the only downside to the entire story. It felt like Voldemort just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Summary: After Harry is inadvertently turned into a were-leopard without permission from
the pride alpha, Lucius Malfoy, he is thrust into a world that he never knew existed. When Lucius claims him as his Chosen, Harry must learn the ways of the pride and what it means to love and what his place is. All throughout this time, the creature who turned Harry in the first place is determined to ruin Lucius’s and Harry’s life, as Harry was never meant to live. Draco, who is resistant to the change, must also find his place in the pride, while holding onto what is most dear to him, his guardians.
Opinion: This fanfiction was actually very detailed and the relationships well-developed. Nothing was ever taken for granted and it was easy to tell Harry’s confusion and struggles with the new pride life. The introduction of other weres was an interesting one; that at times made little to no sense. However, the concept of pride and how it would be different from pack was handled well. The sex scenes, while numerous, were fairly bland and not well described. It took me a while during some of them to realize what body parts were where and who was with whom. A good read, but only if you are into polyamory and orgies.

Part 2 of 3 part series
Summary: After Harry and Draco find out that they are not only soul mates and Ukatae, but are also Emperors of the Ukatae realm, they must handle taking over the wizarding and the Ukatae realm with as little dissent as possible. They discover that one of their close friends is a goddess and seems content with causing as much romantic chaos, babies, and Ukatae as possible. When virtually everyone close to Harry and Draco have been changed to Ukatae, they decide that it is time to take over the Ukatae realm and stop the violence there. It is during this time that the struggle between master and slave comes to life with unusual results.
Opinion: While the first fanfiction in this series was horribly laid out, this one allowed the readers to immerse themselves into the story. Having the background from the first fanfiction helped with the reading of the second immensely. The character relationships were developed slowly and carefully instead of suddenly and the story progressed at a nice speed. Though the story is long, there are enough mini-climaxes to make the story interesting and it culminates in the final battle very well. The transition in the third story left it so you want to read on further to see what happens to certain characters, but wraps up the rest of the storyline nicely. The reader could stop at this story if they wanted to. That being said, a lot of the interactions seemed out of character even in the current storyline.

Part 1 of 3 part series
Summary: Snape and Draco find Harry almost at death’s door after a beating from the Dursleys, and he finds himself in a unique situation. Draco and him have a soul mate bond that is turning them into an endangered magical creature. After Harry and Draco (who have realized that they liked each other long before the introduction of the soul mate bond) have gone through their inheritance, they discover that they are magical beings called Ukatae and have four bodyguards following them around to help protect them in their new world. During this entire process, they discover that Dumbledore created Tom Riddle and was the direct cause of the Potters’ deaths, causing an unlikely alliance between the Dark and the Light.
Opinion: The reader is dumped into the middle of the story without any prelude. The storyline progresses similarly to what I would expect from several chapters in, right from the very beginning. It makes the story very hard to get into and follow. While some of the main questions are answered throughout, we do miss the character development quite a bit. Even when the Ukatae characters are introduced, they are hard to relate to. The thing that made the story harder to read is the fact that most events/emotions are immediately understood by everyone without any confusion, even the changing to the Ukatae was just taken as a given. Some of the relationships were well-developed, but there didn’t seem to be any lead-up.

Summary: When Hermione gains allegiance of the Elder Wand in 1998 during a rather gruesome fight, she attempts to break the Unbreakable Wand. This throws her back in time to the 1943, where she meet Tom Riddle while he is still at Hogwarts in his sixth year. As she attempts to gain knowledge of how to get back into her own timeline without effecting the future too much, she ends up in a battle of wits and power with the future Lord Voldemort himself and Grindlewald as well. When Tom takes a liking to Hermione despite his dark nature, she has to decide whether she overcome her past to possibly change the future.
Opinion: This story had a lot of very good points and a lot of good battle action scenes that made sense and actually made it seem like the fights were a challenge. The magical theory that is explored in the story is plausible and fascinating. Hermione’s thought process on this one is very complex and the reader can tell that she is very conflicted. At the same time, there were some points that it seems like the characters weren’t changing all that much. The relationship was hard to understand because it didn’t seem to progress much further than selfish reasons and neither character (Tom or Hermione) seemed to understand their own feelings either, which made their thought processes hard to follow. There was also a distinct need for proofreading and fact checking in this storyline as well; there were a lot of errors in major canon spelling that threw me off throughout the storyline.

Part 2 of 2 part series
Summary: After a highly eventful school year, Severus, Harry, and Draco are looking forward to a summer of swimming lessons and enjoying their break. When they visit a local small-town opera, Draco falls in love with one of the singers, convincing himself that she can’t be Muggle and she has to be a witch; she just doesn’t know it. After he finally has undeniable proof that she is a Muggle, Draco has to learn how to accept the Muggle world to keep his love. During all this, Harry learns what a childhood is supposed to be, while feeling like he shouldn’t be relaxing. Just as the summer wanes, Voldemort has a nasty surprise for them all as a birthday present for Harry. The war begins, leaving the new family to figure out just how to proceed.
Opinion: After the highly action-packed first part to this series, this fanfiction seemed almost a little dull. That being said, it was still an easy, enjoyable read. Most of this seemed to be focused around Draco’s relationship and how it affected the family dynamics. It showed a great deal of character development on Draco’s part, as he had to change his entire worldview. At the same time, the insecurities were all the same, creating a cohesive arc with the first part. There was some alluding to Harry’s lack of sexual/romantic attraction that could have been explored further in this section. I wish that the strong end event had happened sooner so we had more of a conclusion; however, it was a nice way to end the story on a cliff-hanger.

Note: The author does state that there will be a third part to the series entitled “A Family Like None Other,” however, there seems to be no indication that this will be posted anytime soon. The last post date on AO3 was on June 2013.
