Part 3 of 3 part series
Summary: Tom Riddle comes back to possess Harry, who has been underground in stasis for six years, believed to be dead. He traps Harry into his own mind and proceeds to kill/rape/kidnap both muggles and half-breeds. Its only when he meets the Winchesters and Gabriel that he is freed from Riddle’s grasp. Now he must learn how to fight demons across Europe, while getting repeatedly saved by Gabriel and getting reprimanded by Death for messing with the natural order. In the end, Harry must learn what it means to be family and the reaches of his magic.
Opinion: The struggle that Tom Riddle had with letting go of his humanity was very well handled, yet short-lived. This fanfiction is very heavily on the Supernatural overlap, which personally was a turn-off speaking how the other two parts were limited on the cross-over references. As someone who has not watched much of Supernatural for reasons unknown, it was a struggle to keep up and understand what was going on. This would not have been as jarring or off-putting if the other parts included more Supernatural elements. It also seemed that the author’s answer to relationship strife and development needed to come from unplanned pregnancy as there was yet another one in this part.
Length: 100.807 words
Pairings: Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy, Severus Snape/Hermione Granger, James Potter/Narcissa Malfoy, Remus Lupin/Sirius Black
Warnings: Heavy gore, Supernatural cross-over, suicide mentions.
Part 2 or 3 part series
Summary: After the disastrous end of Voldemort in the first part, Harry is sentenced to live in Azkaban, where he spends his days in an alternate world that he has created in his mind where he gets to live with those who he has lost. Meanwhile, Severus and James have to come to terms with what it means to live with a bond and learn to live outside of it as well. When Lily Potter, as a reaper, manages to convince Harry that his world is not reality, he crash-lands back into a world that hates him. When his attempt to bring back Draco by going back in time fails, he turns to Lucius Malfoy, who double-crosses him.
Opinion: The creation of Elsewhere was fascinating, as was the stories of the other members of the Dead Block in Azkaban, but the story seemed lacking in terms of how each person was dealing with the events of the war. Not one person seemed to be handling it well and each one had tried to commit suicide of some kind. The relationship building was lacking and seemed very sudden, with unplanned pregnancies as the sole reason that the relationships stayed together.
Length: 114.747 words
Pairings: Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy, Hermione Granger/Severus Snape, James Potter/Narcissa Malfoy
Warnings: Suicide warning, insanity, heavily alcoholism, drug addiction
Part 9 of 17 part series
Summary: James Potter has been watching over Harry for all of his life from limbo, not able to interact with the living world. While he watches, he gets more and more upset at the changes in Harry and his friends, feeling that they are pushing Harry away from the “good” path and away from him. When Sirius grants Harry the right to call him “Dad,” this was the last straw for James. When the last remaining Death Eater contacts the nearest spirit to bring them back to Earth, James jumps at the chance for revenge.
Opinion: This story was such a deviation from the rest of the series, that it was jarring after the last long fanfiction. The sudden shift to James Potter’s perspective was harsh and it seemed out of character for James to want to stay without Lily for so long in limbo, and especially for him to get so angry with Sirius for taking over the father figure in Harry’s life. This did not really add any new information to the storyline and was actually not that interesting.
Length: 62.615 words
Pairings: Sirius Black/Branwen Blackmore, Severus Snape/Remus Lupin, James Potter/Lily Potter
Warnings: Alternate Universe, Death, mild gore
